Looking for a non-smoking professional person aged 28+ to take care of a spacious 2-room Altbau flat in the heart of Charlottenburg. Available from March, the sublet offers 56m² of private space (out of 74m² in total) and sole access to a peaceful garden. It’s available for an initial 6-month sublet, with the option to extend if all goes well (up to 2 years). Registration is permitted.
It’s a ground floor flat with its own entrance separate from other staircases. The room on offer, the largest in the flat, has a French door leading directly into the garden. It’s furnished with a bed, a wardrobe, a dresser, mirror, desk, sofa and armchair, WLAN router and TV socket.
Apart from the charm of the garden view, high ceilings and thick walls, the flat is so far back from the street that it’s wonderfully quiet. There's cycle parking in the first courtyard, which is seen through the kitchen window.
The kitchen is bright and spacious, with plenty of worktop space, a dining area by the window, and an oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Complete with armchair it’s a cozy room to work, read or meditate as well as host guests.
Opposite is the generously sized restroom with a bath and a shower, plus washing machine. Off the passageway is the room reserved for my belongings, which I anticipate using for less than a week every 2 months (always with fair warning).
The all inclusive rent of €1095 per month covers heating, waste collection, electricity, internet/WLAN, and the ARD/ZDF license and the use of all furnishings, appliances and cookware.
This part of Charlottenburg is very convenient for shopping, with the Wilmersdorfer Straße pedestrian zone just a few minutes walk away.
Closer still, the twice weekly street market is a popular haunt that brings the neighbourhood to life, especially on Saturdays. Eateries abound, from Mediterranean to Middle Eastern to every kind of Asian cuisine on Kantstraße. To commune with nature, it’s always good to stroll round Lietzensee park, while Tiergarten is an easy bike ride away.
Excellent transport links give you good connections to the rest of Berlin: U-Wilmersdorfer Str., U-Deutsche Oper, S-Savignyplatz, S-Charlottenburg are all in easy walking distance. Even closer at hand, there are regular buses to and from Zoologischer Garten and between Zehlendorf and Moabit.
To care for the flat while I'm abroad - and occasionally share it during my very infrequent stopovers - I'm looking for a non-smoking professional aged 28 or over, someone who enjoys city life but also appreciates a peaceful retreat and a quiet home life. Since I’ll barely be around, I need a flatmate who’s willing to take on everyday upkeep and show initiative if issues arise. Ideally we’ll be able to communicate easily in English as well as German. And I know the right person will enjoy tending to the shady garden.
It's best to write me a short message with relevant details about yourself. In case of interest I'll reply within 24 hours to set up a viewing.
