This one room apartment is part of the student dorm Elementum by Yugo. (https://yugo.com/en-gb/global/germany/darmstadt/elementum)
So why not just chose an apartment offered on Yugo's website? Here are good reasons:
First, Elementum is almost sold out, so its not 100% sure that you get the apartment you apply to. And you can't really choose where you want your flat to be. Moreover, I think that this is the nicest kind of flat in the Elementum:
- Its in the newest building.
- Its on the first floor, so you don't constantly have to think about people looking into your room.
- The washing machines are in your building. (In the cellar of course, so you don't hear them)
- The common room is far away enough for you to sleep even if there is a party going on ^^
- The roof terrace is on your building, so you can easily get there. At the same time, because you're only on the first floor, you don't hear it if people are up there.
The contract will still be between you and Yugo - I just decided to move out before my contract expires, so I am responsible to find a new tenant for my flat.
The community of Elementum comes from all over the world, so no matter where you're from, you will most likely find someone that speaks your language :D Of course, everyone also speaks English and there are a lot of Germans too.
The Yugo team also organizes events throughout the semester e.g. a semester opening party or a Chinese new year party. These are great opportunities to make connections with other people.
The flat contains everything you need: Your own small kitchen, your own bathroom, desk, chair, a lot of storage space and a bed with mattress. More information can be found under the link above.
Very close to the Hochschule Darmstadt. The nearest bus / tram stop is Berliner Allee, maybe 250m away from the building, check google maps :D
The rent is all inclusive: Furniture, water, heating, electricity, internet, warm water and janitor service is completely covered, the only additional cost is the german radio tax (GEZ).
Technically, the contract will be a fixed-term contract with length between 6 and 12 months. However, it is possible to expand your contract before it expires.
If you choose a contract that is shorter than seven months, you will have to pay more because this falls into a different category of taxes, the rent will then be 865€.
To get the contract you will have to pay 150€ of management fees to Yugo.
This flat can only be rented by students or PhD students.
