We've been a WG for over five years now and have been friends for even longer. Since our flatmate is going on a soul searching trip, we can offer her room for two months :) We know that looking for housing is a tedious task, but we encourage you to at least read our text and we'll do the same 🫶🏼
The flat is on the 4th floor, there is no lift unfortunately. First we have a kitchen, a bathroom and three other rooms. Yours will be the biggest one, furnished with a spacious closet (you cannot see it in the picture because it's behind the person taking the photo), and two shelves (on the left side in the photo). Maybe there is also a mattress (no bed sorry, but our other flatmate managed to sleep like that for many years haha), a desk, a chair and a sofa too. The carpeted floor is nice against cold feet, but there is also a heater. The windows show the inner courtyard. It's quite calm, especially in the morning when the sun shines directly into your room, but there are curtains too in case you don't like sunlight lol
The kitchen provides a table to eat meals, a microwave to reheat leftovers, a dishwasher that is not working rn, an oven for the best cakes in town, a fridge for fresh vegetables and almost every tool to cook or bake any dish you can imagine. The best thing about this kitchen is its spacious working area. We do not own a coffee machine, but there's DVD player and a little monitor attached to our kitchen shelf where you can watch High School Musical 1.
The bathroom has a bathtub. Of course, you can use the washing machine.
You can lock your bike in the basement or the courtyard.
The U6 station Rehberge is a 5 minute walk away, from where you can get to Friedrichstraße in 11 minutes. Nearby we have two wonderful parks where you can take a break from the bustling city life. The neighbourhood is quite calm and the people are nice and friendly.
You would coexist with two lovely human beings, Yanda and Thomas, but actually Yanda spends a lot of time at his partner's place rn, so you'll be in contact with Thomas mostly :)
[Yanda is totally into care-full and honest interaction, developing a goal-oriented approach for fearlessly addressing discomfort if it arises, and for resolution of possible conflicts with regards to the shared living situation (the goal being a win-win for all parties involved). He believes that home should be a place to feel safe, confident, relaxed, and free from judgement. He longs for a communal effort that builds trust, respectful treatment of each other and general acceptance of everyone being just as they are.]
Thommy (he/they), 28, studies computational linguistics and loves a clean kitchen. They love dancing and baking and spend most of the time having a meal in the kitchen while rewatching The Office. Asian and queer fyi. They are also looking for a Vietnamese or Italian tandem if you can offer that. They can offer German or English.
We don't have regular meetings, but we definitely enjoy each other's company. On occasion we also go out together (yay excursion). If you could be any animal, which one would it be? Tell us in your very first sentence, please. Often our paths cross in the kitchen where we can talk about anything or not at all.
Neither do we have a cleaning schedule. Nevertheless we care about maintaining a clean environment for everybody. We appreciate your initiative and eye for details. Each person is responsible for participating in cleaning activities at the time of their choosing. By now we have individual tasks that we are expected to fulfil independently. Sometimes Thomas gives hints (or you might say orders) on what needs to be done. We see open communication as essential, to let each other know if something is bothering us and to be able to accept criticism easily.
Ideally you are willing to meet up with us for a quick chat about our co-living.
If you're interested, please send us a message with an introduction, you can tell us about your passions in life or what brings you to Berlin. Anything you are willing to share. If you are low on budget financially, you can also tell us that. We'd like to give the room to a person who is not privileged in that sense.
We know how terrible the housing situation is out there, please understand that we don't have the resources to reply to each one of you. We wish you all the best!
Anything else you want to know? We're looking forward to sharing two months with you :)
