The room is 18m2 in a 13 people community with a large living room, sundeck, community kitchen, two bathrooms (two toilets and a shower each) and a little room for fridges and a washing machine.
You should be ok with the fact that you can not get official “Anmeldung” at our flat.
The flat is located in one of Oberschöneweide's industrial compounds with workshops around it. There is a Penny, Edeka, Kaufland, Rewe, Dm, Aldi and an organic shop nearby, this means all shopping opportunities you need are within walking distance.
The train station S-Bahn Schöneweide is 15min by foot. There is also a tram station 5min walk away and the bus 365 stops right in front of our door.
There are also some nice parks in the area, e.g. Wuhlheide, Königsheide and Plänterwald.
¡Hola! We are the WEIRDE 13, an LGBTQI*+ friendly WG. We are a diverse group of people from many different cultures and backgrounds. The main languages we speak are English, German and Spanish. We are the opposite of a “Zweck-WG”, that means we consciously chose living in a community with 13 people and we would like to keep it that way.
So you should also make a conscious decision for this lifestyle if you want to live with us.
Of course everyone still has their private and work lives and can close the door to their rooms if they need some quiet time. It is also not mandatory to take part in all community events and projects. Together we love to create new things e.g. improving our living room or terrace by building with wood.
There are many projects going on in and around the house, the gardening crew takes care of the fruit and veggies growing on our sundeck/terrace and the event orga crew organises concerts and workshops in our living room, to name a few. We would love for you to join the community projects with your input, creative ideas and working-time. All flatmates contribute to our ever growing and evolving space with their own ingenuity and time.
We also enjoy cooking together or playing games in the kitchen or on the terrace. From time to time we also like having movie nights in the living room.
You should be able to partake in our monthly meetings, where we discuss topics concerning the WG, talk about our ideas, wishes and suggestions and of course laugh a lot.
Our motto for parties is quality over quantity - this means we are not a party WG, because most of us have busy working-lives outside of the WG. But when we have events at the flat they are always super amazing!
Generally we follow the path of live and let live, so we cultivate respect and take each other's needs seriously. You should have skills in open communication and not be afraid of criticism.
We have a gamified Putzplan that helps us keep our space clean. We would like you to view the flat as a HOME and take initiative to help it stay clean and cosy.
As you can see in the pictures of my room, I have a bunch of plants that would also need some care while I'm away, so it would be amaizing if you had a green finger, otherwise I can ask my flatmates to adopt some of them for that time :)
