The room is approximately 18 square meters, with a wide window front facing east and balcony access towards the south. Plants thrive here. We have a common balcony, which we especially like to use in the summer, and it can only accessed through the bedroom. The balcony is perfect for setting up a home cinema with a projector and speakers.
There is a shared garden in the backyard, used by the other residents.
A few pieces of furniture can be taken over (the wardrobe and the desk). However, we can discuss these details further at a later time.
Our apartment is located right at the front edge of Eppelheim and can be reached from Heidelberg Bismarkplatz by bike in 20 minutes (or 15 minutes if you are a passionate bike rider). There is a tram stop 7 minutes walking from the house, which will take you to Bismarkplatz in 20 minutes. There is also a bus that can take you to Neuenheimerfeld directly. Additionally, there is an S-Bahn station/train station a 10-minute walk away, to easily reach hauptbahnhof, mannheim or Heidelberg Altstadt.
Aldi, Rewe, DM, Netto, an Action store, as well as a 24-hour gas station (quite unique for Heidelberg!!) are nearby, along with many small shopping options in the Eppelheim town center, and a weekly market.
Within walking distance (about 10 minutes) is the Villa Nachtanz, Heidelberg's most popular dance venue for those who find mainstream, sing-along, and Schlager clubs problematic. It is self-organized and known as a place for solidarity parties, such as for Seebrücke.
We are a primarily english speaking wg, as some of the flatmates are only just starting to learn german. If there is one thing you will certainly find in our wg, it is a group of people with wildely different backgrounds.
While we respect the need for personal space and "me time," we're hoping to find a like-minded person who enjoys creating a sense of community within the home. We prefer not to be strangers sharing the same space but more like friends living together. We enjoy doing things together from time to time, whether it's cooking, hanging out in each other's rooms for a chat, catching up with a beer and cigarette, game evenings, or even going out to electronic music venues to dance. We also love hosting parties at home occasionally.
Through trial and error, we figured out that the best way to maintain a clean and comfortable living space is to set up a rotating cleaning plan, so everyone has to participate 3 weeks out of 5. Aside from this, general cleanliness and tidiness of the shared areas is deffinitely important for us.
Important Note: Since the balcony is an outdoor common area, it's important that the rest of the housemates have easy access to it. This means that your roommates may need to pass through your room to reach the balcony, as it's the only way to access it.
