Hello,
Our son moved to Italy and our daughter moved to Germany shortly after, so we are renting out their flat. The flat has three rooms and this ad is for the Room #1. This one is a large room for Turkey, with some furnitures: a double bed, a table to study , a nice closet.
The shared living space has a small table to dine and a couch to hang out in front of the TV. It's not the biggest space, but serves as a nice meeting point.
There's a small kitchen in the House with a stove and a microwave, as well as a dishwasher. The washing machine is also in the kitchen. There is no oven though.
There are two bathrooms with a shower in each one. There's also a small storage room, where you can hang your laundry and store your empty luggage etc.
The highlight of this flat is the ~95m2 terrace on the 6th floor (just one floor above the flat), which you can also use as a tenant. It's a common area for the whole building where you can meet your neighbours and have a glass of wine with a wonderful view of the Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia and the Galata Tower.
Cihangir is a 10 min walk away from Taksim and it's a part of the city, that still has the old Turkish neighbourhood feeling. There are also many foreigners who live there, so it's the best place to get to know the culture without being alienated.
Taksim is referred to as the center of the city, and the Taksim Square will be your main transportation point from Cihangir. From Taksim you can go anywhere via the Metro and other public transportation (Bus, Dolmuş etc.). The Metro is also connected to the Marmaray, which is the fastest underground way to the Asian side (Kadıköy etc.). It's also very easy to come home late at night, since something/anything (Bus, Metro, Dolmuş...) always goes to Taksim as the city center.
Cihangir is also a 10 min walk away from the sea shore, where you can take the Tram to the old city, as well as to the Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa & ÇAPA Medical Universities. Karaköy is also 15 min away, where you have an active social scene, and the pier to the ferries going to the Asian side through the Bosphorus.
It is a pretty normal home, with lovely families as neighbours like us (We are living on the 6th floor).
Almost all our neighbours speak English and there is always someone in the building that can help you with everyday problems, like if the power goes out, we can help you with who to call and give you candles until then.

Having friends over and having fun is of course welcome, but we would appreciate it if there were no loud parties going on till the morning.
We don't want any smoking in the house, but you can smoke on the terrace if you must.
Internet is already installed, bundled with the Turkish cable net for the TV.
The common areas in the flat will be cleaned by a maid once a month (included in the rent), but we expect you to keep the place and your rooms reasonably clean as adults already :) If you are interested in including your room in this cleaning or getting the flat cleaned more frequently, we can discuss those options and possible additional fees.
