Hej!
Iām Yida, 21, year 2 bachelors computer science / Informatik at the University of Nottingham, UK, I'm originally from China. Iām here enrolled as a temporary student at KIT to participant in a research intern about AI and robotics, from June to September.
Iām always trying something new, meeting amazing people, experiencing the world. For sport and leisure, Iāve tried climbing, fencing, street dance, salsa, cheerleading, soccer, cycling, swimming and even artistic swimming (currently in Nottingham). For the activity in Karlsruhe perhaps mostly swimming or maybe find a dancing studio. Iād like to have socials with a few friends, anywhere (bars, restaurants, cafes, parks, hiking). I do go clubbing yet not often at all. Iām always open and honest. Iām very outgoing, yet I tend be a listener on some cases instead of talking very much. Iāve experienced university life in China (Uni of Nottingham have a campus in China, Iām in a dual campus program), Denmark (Aarhus summer university) and UK. Iāve also been to Japan and Norway. This will be a ātest runā for my masterās and PhD, as they are highly likely in Germany. Highly likely future life and career as well. Ich liebe Deutschland. I love the atmosphere, mindset, especially the WG culture is great, although sometimes I know too many messages to reply! Sadly no such thing in China and UK as it's mostly landlords do splits directly and we don't know the housemate details. Manchmal ist Deutschland wie meine Heimat!
I mostly cook myself in the UK, mostly some very simple pasta, though. Sadly, Iām not really making Chinese cuisine, Iām more European taste. Iām happy to do some nice housekeeping to make everything sorted.
I can understand basic German, but not so much still learning, English is my main language although native in Chinese. Iām very pleased to do a language exchange.
I would like a quite wide range of music whatever meet my taste, including pop, classical, electro swing, bossa nova, country, flamenco & tango, new age, etc, still awaiting to explore more genres with you!
I always think different from normal, from life hacks to project ideas. Sometimes look crazy but worked pretty fine.
Iām non-binary (half transfem or maybe "ladyboy" to be simple), Iām always trying some queer ways to express myself, trying to bring the huge gap of gender stereotypes, Iām doing all kinds of āgirl stuffā and āboy stuffā at the same time. Relax, no need to worry too much about this "gender ideology" thing, I'm a normal person, too. Just be friendly, everything will be pretty fine, no matter who you are! Iām extremely easygoing and friendly as well. In fact, back in China I lived in a dorm room shared with 4 like hostel but we lived quite well despite our daily routine and bedtime are very different.
I'm discovering new styles of outfits and learning how to makeup. After discovering the truly myself, cottagecore is my favorite vibe. I've also trying to mix some Chinese elements with goth or some kind, made my first "party outfit".
I might tend to be quieter, and I hope the workload of research intern is not too high so I can have more socials. For socials, i don't usually organize myself, but if you wanna go hiking, movies, music, shopping, dining, parties, pubs etc, I'll be very happy to join as well.
Iām not smoking, better no indoor smoking in the WG. Drink little alcohol sometimes, like one or two cocktail or beer, not much. Iām not a drug user.
I donāt have pets, it will be completely fine and actually great if you have pets.
I donāt have any special diet requirements.
June 9 to September 19 is just the maximum duration I can stay according to my visa. Start and end dates of contract can actually be a bit flexible (if you want a certain date near or a full month).
It's basically not possible to obtain Schufa (request now) from outside Germany. However, I hold a valid German student visa which means I have a blocked account guarantees at least EUR 992 per month, I also hold a valid UK student visa for 2 years, which requires lot of financial support plus paid full UK international tuition fee (much higher), I've also signed the next year tenancy agreement in Nottingham. If I'm not paying any of those on time, will result in a removal from entire EU or UK, so not gonna happen.
more preferable if have dishwasher and dryer, but not necessary.

Vielen Dank! I'm really looking forward to have a wonderful WG life with you! : )
### If youāre not IT related, ignore the following part ###
Iāve been using full Linux for a year. I program mainly in Python for my personal projects, though weāve learned C, Java etc, as well. I have a lot of experience in NLP, especially LLMs, also CV and some robotics and data science as well. Iāve done a research program with LLMs that analyse financial news back to China campus, weāve submitted a research paper and made a presentation on an IEEE conference in Norway this March. Iāve also made a financial news dataset contains 6 million financial news scrapped myself from Yahoo, available on huggingface.co/edaschau
The research at KIT will be using vision-language-action models to make a very intelligent robot. Iāll be also really happy to do some tech exchange.
