The room is on the first floor, together with two other rooms and the bathroom. It's spacious and has a window with a very nice view of our garden :)
The house in general has a lot of room that can be used! We have a second living room where we like to host guests, a room in the basement for parties and also a (slightly neglected) workshop. The highlight of the house is the beautiful garden, where we have a mini pond, a hammock and also some room for growing veggies.
The house is located in Bickendorf, a quiet neighbourhood with friendly neighbours and parks, and at the same time walking distance to the more lively Ehrenfeld. Small local cafes, a bookstore, kiosk, bakery and 2 restaurants are all within 5' walking distance. For groceries, REWE ALDI and LIDL are reachable within 10'.
Almost in front of our house door passes the bus 139 that can bring you directly to the S-Bahn station Technologie park or Longerich. The U-Bahn stop Rochusplatz is at 9' walking distance, from which you can take lines 3 & 4 and arrive in the city centre in 10'.
You can also reach Bahnhof Ehrenfeld with the bike in 10´.
We are an international WG in Bickendorf comprised of 4 people: Viola and Vicky from Germany, Andrea from Italy and Rigel from Mexico. We communicate in English, therefore it is essential that you are also fluent!
Andrea is doing his Ph.D. in Plant Biology. Therefore he works a lot but enjoys to cook Pasta or play football in the evenings. Rigel just finished her Ph.D. in Plant Biology and takes a well deserved brake while working as a tour guide. Viola is a social worker and likes to spent time in the garden or doing various home diy/craft projects. Vicky works from home, plays in her own band and likes to learn new languages (Korean at the moment).
The roomie that you can always find at home is Winni, our lovely cat.
In general, we are all quite relaxed and we like to spontaneously meet in the kitchen or the garden, have dinner together, watch movies, play boardgames or do activities outside of the house together.
Apart from the relaxing vibes, we do have a cleaning schedule that even though is not super strict we try to do our best to keep the house in a good condition and create a safe space where everyone feels ok. We also share all the food and we have a system to buy groceries and to pay fairly what each person consumes. We are very convinced of our system, so it would be great if you want to participate!
We are looking for someone that cares about the people they are living with and shares our motivation for a communal way of living :)
The contract of the room is minimum 2 years (open end). But ofc it is possible to subrent the room if you want to leave in this time.
You have the amazing possibility to buy all the furniture that fit the room perfectly for 150 € (beside the white small Kalax). This is not a must if you don't need it!
Our landlady requests a Criminal record (Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) and a Schufa (request now) from every new renter. This is a bit annoying, and it takes usually 2/3 week to arrive.
