Hi, I am Khaled and I will be moving out from my room around beginning of December. Let's talk about the technichal aspects first. The room is around 12 m2 (3 x 4 m) with windows facing towards the Kalker Hauptstraße.
I think the room is perfect for students, there is enough space for some furniture to make it cosy and confortable. Obviously you can get rid of the furniture that I am leaving and make the room your own. I also like that when the windows are closed you can barely hear the noise of the street.
The location is great! The building is next to the Kalker Hauptstraße where you can find everything you need, there are supermarkets (Lidl, Aldi Rewe), shopping malls (Köln Arcade), backeries, diferent kinds of restaurants and a brauery nearby. The nearest Straßenbahn station is Kalk Kapelle (4 min walking) where you can take the lines 1 and 9. The nearest S-Bahn station is Trimbornstraße (10 min walking). The nice thing is that one needs aprox. 15 min to reach Neumarkt, and 20 min to the Hbf taking into account walking times.
In general it is a really open minded and relaxed Wg, politically inclined to the left, queer and with different cultural backgrounds. Respect, consideration and comunication while living together are expected. Living here has been a pretty nice experience.
You would be living with:
Hey I am Yi-Hsuan (he/him). I am 24 and currently finishing my Bachelor in Psychology at University of Cologne. I am gay and you shouIdn't have a problem with it. I enjoy cooking and baking. You'll often find me in the kitchen trying out new recipes or me talking about food. I love to go for walks and I’m trying to build habit of exercising more often. I've lived in a WG with eight roommates for 2 years and gained a lot of experiences living people from different countries. I am communicative and like chatting, while respecting other people’s spaces, so it’s definitely ok if you want some alone time. Other than Chinese I also speak English and German. I care alot about the environment and LGBTQ community. For me it is important that you are clean and tidy. It would be great if you already have experiences living with other people.
Anika (they/them):
Hello, I’m Anika, 28 years old and I am currently studying (and hopefully soon finishing) a Master’s in Professional Writing. Apart from that I work for an NGO and also as an artist, mostly in poetry, performance and film.
Open communication is very important to me in terms of living together, as well as keeping the common areas clean and tidy. Other than that, I’m often up for a chat or some coworking in the common areas, but I also understand and respect when people prefer to keep to themselves.
I'm queer and Filipinx-German. In my freetime I like to cook, play the ukulele, hang out with friends or go to some community events. I also really enjoy WG activities like going on small trips or having dinner together from time to time. I speak English and German and I’m learning Tagalog.
Yi-Hsuan and Anika are super friendly, kind and the best roomates that I could wish for. We hang out a lot, but they also respect if some alone time is needed. Even though I am moving out now, I am pretty sure we will be seeing each other pretty often :-)
We have a cleaning plan, and some expenses are shared. Additionally, I would like you to mention in your response your favorite flavor or type of ice cream. If you are interested in the room please contact me here in WG gesucht. Online sightings are possible as well as in person.
Another important thing to mention is that, because of how things are managed from the landlord's side, the contract that transfers the room from me to you takes some time to arrive. We can start this process as soon as possible, but maybe the first month you would be signing a sublease contract with me while we wait for the official contract to arrive. (I did this when I moved in here and I had 0 problems).
