The room you will be staying in is one of 8 rooms in this house, and you will be sharing a kitchen and 3 toilets/bathrooms with them. Almost none of them are German so English ability is strongly recommended.
The room oversees a park adjacent to the railyard of Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof. The room is furnished with a bed, desk/chair, closet and bookshelf. You will be provided a bicycle storage accessible from the entrance 4B. The rent is 369 euros, utilities included. However, internet is NOT included and you must make a contract with Selfnet separately. The internet costs €9,5/mo. See https://selfnet.de/ for more info.
You are able to move in at 1st Nov., or earlier depending on circumstances. Move-out date is 12/31.
The building is located at the centre of Stuttgart. Hauptbahnhof can be reached with 2 stops of Stadtbahn or 5 minutes of cycling, from which you have access to a pedestrianised area full of shopping malls and restaurants, and the student canteen/mensa. Two Stadtbahn stations are located within 4 minutes of walking distance and is serviced by 5 lines. Milaneo, the largest shopping mall in Baden-Württemberg, is also within walking distance. Travel time to Uni Stuttgart Campus Vaihingen takes around 30 min via S bahn.
As it is a student dorm, residents change regularly by the semester. Current residents include 3 Indian students, and one Chinese, Vietnamese, and German student. People here mostly mind their own business, and there's no pressure to get along together. Some tenants bring their friends in and cook together, so the kitchen can be crowded on a weekend evening. Cleanliness should be strictly observed, as this particular house is notorious for having been fined several times for insufficient cleaning.
Please note that while washing mashines are supposed to be provided, almost all of them are out of service and unfortunately it will likely stay that way for the entirety of your stay. Please plan accordingly.
As a subtenant in a student dorm of Studierendenwerk Stuttgart, you need to currently be a student of one of 15 universities that SW Stuttgart provides service to.
