We have one free room in our big WG. The room is free for a subrent for 6 months, with the possibility of staying longer if our sweet Majo cannot come back.
The room is around 22 m² and costs 473 euros all inclusive (internet and heating). The room has a lot of sun (two windows facing east).
There might be the option for you to keep the cupboard - you can communicate this with Majo, our flatmate who will sadly move out.
Our flat is located near the U6 station Michelbeuern/AKH, various tram lines (43, 42), the Gürtel, BOKU, the campus and the main university. We are actually almost in the middle of the city as well as close to the green places of Vienna, such as Neuwaldegg or Danube Canal.
In terms of shopping, InterSPAR, Billa, Hofer, Denns and DM are in reach, within 5-10 minutes by foot.
We, the Schumenschgassen-WG, consist of seven roommates (with seasonal and mood-dependent fluctuating number of visitors, who all do different things, but like to share them with everyone in conversations or in joint activities (from cooking, WG-movie nights, art or sports). "We", that's Anouk, Aya, Bilind, Laura, Sara, Tiy (and Majo, who sadly moves out), in order of first letter.
As some of us feel more comfortable in English, our flatshare life and communication is often in English. Though it is multilingual - at times a mix of Arabic, French, German, Kurdish, Spanish.
If you send us a message, please also write in english as this is the language all of us can navigate in.
Anouk (she/her), 25, just recently moved into the WG and back to Vienna after spending 6 years in Paris and travelling Europe. She is a bit lost at the moment but can always be found with a good book and for some experimentation in the kitchen. She loves to listen more than talk and even if she tries to stay busy bouldering or wandering through the city streets, she's down and excited for new experiences.
Aya (she/her), 25, joined the flat community two months ago. She studies spatial planning at TU and is usually up for any planned or unplanned activites like bouldering/climbing, a good brunch or a round of table tennis. She tries to learn the coolest parkour moves without breaking her back, enjoys long hikes and believes in the power of ingwer shots.
Bilind (he/him), 31, works as a chef in an irish pub, his plan is to learn german and get into art and culture studies, interested in art, literature, languages, music and summer nights out <3, and makes some of the best cakes in the world:)
Laura (she/her), 29, is studying Social Ecology at the BOKU and is eagerly awaiting the unconditional basic income and world peace. At the moment she is unfortunately still stuck in the "hustle culture" due to university and job, although she compensates this quite well with music, whether making it herself or dancing to it, being outside a lot and chatting with flatmates for 2-3 hours.
Sara (they/them), 28, likes to drink long coffees while reading the Missy magazine, is a passionate cyclist & queerfeminist. They want to dust off their music instrument (soon), love cooking, and botanical nerding.
Tiy (they/them), 26, studies history and is an active member of the DIY event community and collective organisation. Tiy enjoys being out and about, day and night, as well as attending poetry readings and alt music concerts from experimental noise to softy alt punk. The way to Tiy's heart is through humorous chatting at home, organisational collaboration and/or the exchange of frog themed gifts and images.
Our WG life is - in the most positive sense - very (chosen) familiar and compassionate. This means we are considerate to each other, like to spend time with each other, but also give each other space and maintain community from drinking coffee, discussing in the kitchen to going out together from time to time. Since all of us are busy in different ways, our contacts vary in intensity from person to person and from time to time. We all like to listen to music, have an (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) drink or play games from time to time, organise together and rest in between. We have a monthly plenum where we discuss ideas, concerns, suggestions for improvement, etc. Despite our large apartment we manage to keep our rooms clean and tidy and are looking for a new flatmate who appreciates this and also participates in cleaning without being asked.
We hope to find someone who is looking for such a shared flat life, who likes to spend time with people and is open-minded towards small quirks.
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” (Robert Jones Jr.)
In that sense: racism, sexism incl. machism, LGBTQIA* hostility, and any group-related hostility towards people, anti-vaccination and conspiracy ideologies are a no-go.
If you are interested in moving in with us, message us and tell us about yourself. We would be happy to meet you!
The apartment is an attic conversion with about 220sqm, 7 separately accessible bedrooms, 80sqm anteroom with open fully equipped kitchen, 45sqm living room, a small but nice terrace including barbecue, table and armchairs, 3 bathrooms (1 x with sauna, 1 x with toilet, 1x separate toilet), many plants, etc etc. AND smoking is only allowed on the balcony. (Sometimes only if it is ok for everyone, we make an exception for parties.)
IMPORTANT info for temperature-sensitive people: the flat is unfortunately not well insulated, so it is fairly cold in winter and quite hot in summer. It's perfectly bearable for the people who currently live here and we feel comfortable with it, but it could be a challenge, especially for people who are sensitive to the cold!!
