Astrophysics researcher looking for a long-term flat

Dear potential landlord,

My name is Alice Somigliana, I am originally from Italy and I am 28 years old. I recently defended my PhD in Astrophysics at the Ludwig-Maximilien-Universität München and will soon be moving to Heidelberg to start a Research Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) on the Königsstuhl. I will stay for a minimum of three, potentially four, years and therefore I am looking for long-term accommodation.

I would like to find a flat of minimum 40 square meters, with separate bedroom. The past three years in Munich I have lived in an international flatshare, an experience I enjoyed incredibly. I am now ready to move on to the next phase of my life and have my own place. I can provide a reference from my german landlord in Munich, together with proof of employment and income from the Max Planck Society. I am a tidy and organised person, I enjoy cleaning and I am a reliable tenant. I do not smoke and do not have any pets.

Besides astrophysics, I am very passionate about crafting, especially everything related to textiles. I particularly like making my own clothes, both sewing and crocheting/knitting. I like hiking, going to the gym, skating, and taking long walks - I am looking forward to the nice river side in Heidelberg.

I do understand German, but I don’t feel confident in my skills enough to have important conversations (like regarding renting a flat), which is why I am writing and would appreciate the possibility of communicating in English.
