I am subletting my room in my lovely shared flat while I am on sabbatical until the end of February 2026.
Our spacious 120m² flat features three rooms (one potentially yours), a kitchen with adjacent small storage room, a bathroom, and a second toilet. It is located in an apartment building in Mühlenstraße at the border of Pankow and Prenzlauer Berg. We have a courtyard with space to park bicycles and a garden we share with our neighbours - perfect for having friends over for barbecue. Additionally, we have a small, exclusive storage room in the courtyard, where, e.g., a better bicycle can be parked dry and safely.
Your windows face west and the room has in total ca. 22m². I will sublet the room including furniture.
The flat is (walking) close to various coffee places (e.g., Blaffke or North Andes Coffee), restaurants, bars, and grocery stores (e.g., a Penny 280m away).
Bürgerpark Pankow and Volkspark Schönholzer Heide are close by and the perfect spots for running, Mauerpark is a 7min bike ride away.
For public transport, the U2 departs from U Vinetastraße 350m away / and the S-Bahn station Pankow is 650m away.
We have an understanding and mutually interested living together, such that everyone can simply be themselves at home. We love to find common topics to talk about, even if we're not in the flat at all days of the week. In the evening, a film/series in the kitchen or cooking, a chat over a glass of wine, working in the garden, fixing bicycles, visitors... all depending on the time and mood. We appreciate having a clean flat without being complicated.
There's enough space both in the flat and in the garden to invite friends over, and we're totally fine with the flat being a lively place one day or another. However, we also appreciate some calm during the work week to recharge.
We, Jonathan, Annika and David, will remain in the flat and are looking for a fourth person to complement and enrich our shared flat while Sarah is on sabbatical. We founded the flatshare last year in August and Annika and David are in a relationship since school. For you to gauge whether we might be a good fit, let us introduce ourselves to you.
I, Annika (30, she/her), am currently transitioning to a new job starting in May to settle in Berlin once again. Hence, I can't quite tell you about a "normal" day of the week. But giving a more generic idea of my natural routine, I'd say I'm rather an early bird, either jumping into the shower right after getting up and leaving for work without further delay. Or, on other non-work days and before anybody else is up, spending time on the computer at the kitchen table, preparing food, planting something or tidying up in pj's accompanied by a cup of tea. Apart from that, I plan to join a choir again in Berlin and try to have my share in avoiding superfluous food waste via food sharing or other means. Which is a smooth transition to experimental and improvisational cooking, which I enjoy a lot, while following a recipe, on the contrary, poses a personal challenge to me. I value my home and the kitchen to be a lively shared place, in which we interact, have a chat about our days or some deeper talk over a shared beverage, but also where close friends of us are naturally welcome to join dinners every now and then. I would value a personal interaction in which we support and encourage each other, but also dare to challenge our views and beliefs. But for a start, let's just get to know each other.
I am David (32, he/him). After taking some time off to cycle through Europe last year, I am very happy to call our cosy, peaceful and joyous flatshare in Berlin my new home.
I am a curious person who likes to explore and understand, e.g., while traveling, in my job as a post-doc at the WZB Berlin, or by getting to the bottom of another rabbit hole... Be it the production of plant-based milk, optimising coffee preparation, custom bicycle building, or carbon opportunity costs of food, mobility and lifestyle choices.
In a usual week I work in the office for 3-4 days and from home for 1-2 days. Besides work, I enjoy my sports routines to create some physical balance, that is, more cycling (what a surprise), running and swimming. I like to enjoy some tasty (flexigan) food, wine, and drinks together in our kitchen or out in the endless variety of eateries that make Berlin a unique place, have a good conversation and watch a theatre play, movie or series now and then.
I'm Jonathan (29, he/him). After having finished my studies in Freiburg, I've now been working for roughly one year as a resident physician in a neurology department here in Berlin. Work takes up more than enough space in my life right now, so let's talk about something different ;)
I make quite a lot of music: singing (mainly in choirs), playing piano, and saxophone (mostly for jamming with friends - I basically don't practice). Rarely, I also mess around with the guitar, though I wouldn’t say I can actually play—but it’s enough to accompany some simple songs.
As for sports, I've been struggling to get back into my bouldering routine. I promised I wouldn't write about work anymore, so I will keep the reasons (the reason, really) for my struggling in the dark for now. If you were up to hitting the bouldering gym with me - there's an amazing one literally just 200 meters down the road - it would be greatly appreciated. Running, hiking, dancing and yoga, too, are things I really enjoy and inconsistently do. I also try to meditate a little every day - and I try not to be annoying about it.
Oh, and photography is fun as well!
