HEY THERE! I'm Bo, a Swedish singer/songwriter looking for an early-riser flatmate for the month of September and October.
PLEASE NOTE 1: The roof above this flat is being renovated, so there might be some noise between 7am–5pm on weekdays. The September rent will be calculated proportionately according to the amount of days left, of course.
PLEASE NOTE 2: No anmeldung possible, sorry.
PLEASE NOTE 3: If you are a racist, a bigot, or just right-wing, then this is not for you.
PLEASE NOTE 4: If you work from home, this is not the room for you. (Two home office workers is one too much.)
PLEASE NOTE 5: An ad like this gets many applicants, I can't reply to each one of them. Sorry in advance!
I'm renting out a room because I like living with others. This does not mean that I'm looking for a new best friend or family substitute and/or that we would need to spend a huge amount of time together. I have both friends and things to do already. But I do like to have a chat and even share a meal now and then, and I also think it's much easier to keep the flat clean if somebody else is around.
Your lovely 18 m2 room has a partially slanted ceiling with two windows facing south. The room is furnished. (The room is shown in the pictures, however not in the state it will be once you move in, it's a work in progress.)
The Ringbahn passes just next to the house. I got used to this pretty fast, the trains provide a much more regular form of noise than that of a busy city street.
The rent shown above is the total rent for you, including energy, internet, mandatory tv charge, et cetera.
My room lies in connection with the shared lounge living room. There is no door between the two, just a half-wall. This means that when I'm sleeping, you can't be in the shared living room lounge area. This has worked well with previous flatmates.
There is a nice well equipped kitchen, and the hallway fits a large dinner table and doubles as the dining room. The dining room table works great for hanging out, also in between meals. There's a nice balcony facing north and a french balcony towards the south in the common living room lounge area, train spotting-friendlily overlooking the train tracks. The bathroom is spacey with a bathtub and a washing machine.
The flat is located halfway between S+U Hermannstraße and the lovely Tempelhof field, a 5-minute walk from either. Alexanderplatz is a 15-minute U-Bahn trip away, and the BER airport is a 45-minute S-Bahn trip away. If you don't know about Tempelhofer Feld, you will be pleasantly surprised by this wonderful airport-turned-park. I go there several times a week, it's great for walking, biking, jogging, inline skating or barbecuing. There's even an ice skating rink just down the street where you can rent skates by the hour and get your elbows bruised or maybe even bust your lip open.
I am Bo and I am a relaxed, friendly 44-year old flatmate who has lived in a bunch of WG's since moving to Berlin 11 years ago (from Sweden). I enjoy having friends over for dinner now and then, but I don't want a party WG – when I want to party I go to one of Berlin's fine (or sleazy) bars, clubs or parks. Between around 11pm and 9am, we keep it quiet. (Of course a dinner now and then can go on longer than that, especially if we're both enjoying it.)
I like listening to indie pop/rock and singer-songwriter music, but only at moderate sound levels. If you love listening to loud techno or grindcore at home, you should look for another place.
My friends say that I'm a cheerful and tolerant person, who has the ability to always see the positive side of any situation. Living with me is fun, yet comfortable, relaxed and secure. Naturally, we'd have to meet to know if we like each other.
We will have a Putzplan, taking turns cleaning the common areas of the flat. Dirty dishes are not left untended for long (no need to clear them before eating, but most of the time before doing whatever's coming up next that day). There is a dishwasher. Common areas are to be cleared after using them so stuff is not left collecting dust everywhere. Smoking is allowed on the balcony only (two steps from the dinner table). Shoes are normally taken off indoors.
We can of course also have friends staying over now and then. But your significant other cannot move in.
There might be dogs or cats in the flat at times since I occasionally dog sit and cat sit.
Your bike cannot move into the hallway or park on the balcony, no matter how beautiful/delicate/expensive it is. It can quietly stay in your own room provided it doesn't oil/dirty up the room or hallway. There is no cellar, but there's a backyard where I and many others place their bikes.
I work mostly daytime, at home, making music as well as working an online extra job. Ideally, you have a full-time job and don't do too much home office work. I'm usually not loud at home, but I often practice a bit or record some music or videos (at neighbour-friendly hours).
PLEASE NOTE: As you might know, an ad like this receives many applications. So, don't be sad if you don't even get a reply from me; I simply won't have time to reply to all the emails I'm getting. My advice to you is to try to make clear in your message that you have actually ready the whole ad, and to try to give me as good a description as you can regarding:
– you as a person,
– your interests,
– your lifestyle, and
– your typical weekly schedule.
