It’s a newly constructed building (2015). It’s not ‘Altbau’ whoever is searchinges for that, yet it offers nice wooden floors. The room is facing the east - so it's sunny in the morning, and has a cool breathe in the afternoon. The view is towards the inner courtyard with no direct view from opposite apartments. The room is 10.62 m2. Room will be without furniture.
The rent is 417 Euros. The deposit is 975 Euros. You will pay the deposit to our leaving roommate, Mona. You can talk with Mona if it is possible to pay it in three installments three months in a row.
The kitchen is a shared space, so it's our living room. The balcony can be used by everyone - it's nice if you knock if the door (Kathi's room) is closed.
The Baumschulenweg kiez offers almost everything - from fruit and organic food stores to bakeries. A Lidl and EDEKA stores are 10 mins walking from the house. There’s one sweet café in our street: the Behringcafé. And since some two years there's been more and more cafés around. S-Neukölln (20 minutes by bike) and S-Ostkreuz are just two or three stations away. The Baumschulenweg S-bahn station is directly connected to the Berlin Airport and the Berlin train station, as well as the bus station.
Behringstraße is a cobbled street. There’s little traffic. Despite the many trees on the street, the balcony is sunny throughout summer. The neighborhood is quiet and green. There is the Plänterwald forest right near the Spree and a pine forest called Königsheide around the corner.
About living in a shared flat:
- the flat is a safe space for women, queer individuals, and BPoC
- the kitchen is quite big, so it serves as our shared living room
- the balcony is for everyone, with consideration for the person in the balcony room
- we like to cook or share a meal together from time to time, casual and spontaneous arrangements
- Adham and me enjoy spontaneous get-togethers for coffee or cooking
- enjoying our coffee, we do exchange regularly about our overlapping interests in politics, the (Berlin) cultural scene/industry in film and literature
- we invite mutual friends for drinks and cooking from time to time, and movie nights when Adham decides to make his film archives public ;)
- we tend to take our partying outside of the house; shared get-togethers/parties in the kitchen are fine with us
- please pay attention to a minimum of cleanliness, even outside the weekly cleaning activities - so we all feel comfortable in the shared space :)
Who are we?
Kathi: I am 30 yo, studying literature and philosophy, working as a nurse and a student worker aside. I regularly attend literary events, often with a focus on Arabic literature (translation/original). I do enjoy cycling and hiking and just started bouldering recently.
Adham: 33 works as a journalist, and is doing a masters at FU. He works with film festivals and human rights organizations. He likes to cook, watch films (and invites others to watch films), and go for walks. He also likes a good shisha, and an expensive cocktail from time to time.
If you feel addressed, get in touch with us. :)
We speak English with each other. Sometimes having some exchange about German words. And Arabic (colloquial) is part of our conversation here and there.
Please write us 'Behringkiez' in your message so we can know that you read all info. :)
