The apartment has 2 bedrooms + kitchen + 1 bathroom. Both bedrooms are oriented southeast, with a huge glass window/wall that takes you to the balcony, which means that you get to wake up with the Sun. For a morning lover, there's nothing better than this place. the Bedroom is 18m2, and furnitures from the current owner can stay if desired (+ the cost of it). Because both bedrooms are quite big, there's no living room, which means that the shared spaces are just the entrance/hall, kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has all that one usually needs, blender, rice cooker, nice oven, fridge+freezer, tons of spices and so on. the size of it is compact and it has a small table where we usually chop the foods and the like, but we rarely eat there. Rather we eat on the balcony (when we share a meal). Apartment is on the 6th floor, wich makes it rather quiet even with the windows open. Also it's amazing at keeping the room temperature both in Summer and Winter.
We have full speed WiFi which is included on the rent price. Also a laundry machine on the bathroom, a Keller to save our stuffs and a garage for bicycles.
In terms of location this apartment is the absolute bomb. it's in the middle of the Westarcade, which means that as soon as you put a foot out of the building you have all the facilities you need. Supermarkets (Rewe, Denn's, Aldi, Dm), Apotheke, Bank, Restaurants, etc.
Not only that, but also just 10 minutes by foot and you're on the Seepark, best place to spend the summer and any sunny day throughout the year. Also the Tram 4 pass right on the corner of the street, so it takes you 1 minute by foot to get there, and then to the center of the city 10 minutes maximum. Personally I feel it's the best place in all Freiburg. Still hard to believe that I live in such a convenient part of the city.
The apartment is for two persons only, and at the moment the ones who are living here are Kaho, my Japanese flatmate who has been a pleasure to share the apartment with for the last year (Therefore your room would be the one she is currently living in), and myself, Fran, originally from Argentina, with Italian and German background from father and mother respectively. I moved in here 2 year ago. She's 27 and myself 33, and it has been an absolute bliss to share this time with her here. Our families are all back in Japan and Argentina, which meant that we only had each other here as the closest bond. And I can say very gratefully that she became a really close friend to me. Still hard to believe that I could develop such a nice relationship with my flatmate. Though I understand that I might have been very lucky. So I don't expect the same thing to happen with the next person who moves in here. But I do expect to have a good relationship with mutual respect and do our best to put each other into the other person's shoes and look for what we can help out with to have a harmonious shared living.
When I moved in here I just came from Japan, where I was living before Freiburg, so I didn't know anyone here. Since then I've connected with amazing people and made friends, as well as creating a personal routine which allows me to be very happy in this city :)
In terms of how we live in the apartment, we both have our own things going on, so for the most part we respect each other's personal space and time to focus on our goals. We have pleasant talks here and there, mainly when we cook or when we feel like sharing something, we just knock on each other's door and talk for a while, or at the balcony on the weekends, specially in summer time. We mostly do eat separately. Sometimes we share a meal, but mostly we do our own thing. Rather we share other moments like going to play ping pong or some place else. Soooome times friends come over for a drink, but this apartment is definitely not a party place. We both go to sleep before midnight and wake up pretty early. We have big goals in life and are deeply focused on achieving them. I work from Monday to Friday in a delivery company, which helps me pay the bills while I focus on my personal business and on language studies. I'm fluent in Spanish, English and Japanese, and I do well in Italian. I keep investing time on improving my Japanese, so those two things takes most of my time throughout the week. On my free time I enjoy the most playing basketball. Other activities are mainly going to the Seepark, swimming, frisbee, badminton, volley, table tennis, and going for some trekking to different mountains. I love outdoor activities and I'm a Sun lover, so I thrive during the daylight. I don't smoke nor do I drink. I've been vegan for 10+ years and I absolutely love to take care of my health. I do calisthenics diligently and have built a small gym in my room for that. Having said all this, techno runs through my veins, so from time to time I do go to some raves at night to dance and enjoy the moonlight. I've been very lucky in this life, got to live in different parts of the World (Argentina, Costa Rica, Australia, Italy, Japan, Indonesia, etc.), so I been in contact with different cultures and religions. Though I don't subscribe to any of them, I do respect all of them and any gender/ethnicity/background etc. For all of this I consider myself very relaxed and open minded about different points of view of life and accept that there's many ways to achieve happiness. Would love to hear what's your own way to achieve that. As for me, some days are harder than others, like everyone else. But overall I consider myself to be a very happy man and more than anything super blessed with the life I get to live and the people that surrounded me so far. I will do my best to be a positive impact in your life as well. We can communicate In Spanish, English, Italian or Japanese. Though unfortunately my German is not good enough to hold everyday conversations yet. Eventually I intend to reach that level, but at the moment is not a top priority, so I hope you can understand that.
Last but not least, keeping the apartment clean is a must here. We share just the Kitchen and the bathroom, therefore is not hard at all to keep it clean and tidy. Once per week, if we invest 1, max 2 hours the apartment shines like a star. Though I don't consider myself to be Monica from Friends or anything close to that level, I do appreciate an organized place to live and intend to keep it that way, so you need to collaborate with that. Again, we share very little space, so it's not hard. Leaving food on the sink, dirty dishes overnight, clothes on the floor, doors open with loud music, shutting doors hard late at night or the likes are not a sign of mutual respect. These are obvious things to me, but just in case I have to mention them. Respect and consideration above all. Thank you for reading all of this :)
