The room feels spacious due to its layout. The big window front garanties lots of light, as much as possible in the gloomy Köln winter ;) And perfect for people watching on the streets below.
The flat is nearly on the top floor of the building and the neighbors from above are fairly quiet.
Marcelo and I were moving in together as a couple, that's why the set-up in some of the pictures is more living room and storage than bed room ^^
When I move out we will repaint the room, including the blue wall. Unless you'd like to keep it that way or are planning to put up color anyways [:
The flat is perfectly situated in the quarter.
You wanna go for a walk? The Stadtgarten is just down the street and the Grüngürtel around the corner.
Need to travel somewhere? Köln West and Friesenplatz both only 5 minutes walking ensure good connections.
Gotta get groceries? Aldi, two Rewes (open till midnight) and several more high end eco supermarkets available.
And most importantly: We have to great coffee places within a 200 m radius [:
Generally walkability is high from this area of the city (city centre, shopping areas, clubs, bars, ...).
Marcelo (35) is finishing his master in sportpsychology while building his client base as a personal coach. He is originally from São Paulo and came to Cologne for the first time during his Erasmus. And of course he had to come back ;)
He is a combination of nerdy and sporty. You can talk to him about anime, game lore and music or lifting heavy stuff for fun and the mechanics of high jump. And every saturday you will find him volunteering at a bike workshop in Nippes helping out people with repair and maintenance.
Marcelo speaks german really well, in day to day prefers english or of course portuguese ;) and can also speak spanish.
The flat per se isn't very big so you should be able respect each others privacy and communicate if there are things to talk about.
The room is advertised as temporary, but if things develop well will be happily rented for longer.
Marcelo is, true to his latin american upbringing, a spontaneous person, up for walks, talks and little city adventures. And the flat is also a place to recharge.
If you are an orderly, calm and open minded person looking for a home, not a hostel, where you can share a great coffee or a meal over a good conversation with your flatmate and then you each go about your day I think you will like it here.
