Hello everyone,
Since I (Maria) am moving out, my room will be free from October 1st. The room belongs to a duplex apartment that you will share with Valentina (26), and Sloba (29), who are both enrolled at BOKU as Ph.D. students.
The rented room is fully furnished and located on the lower floor of the apartment. Downstairs there are also the kitchen, the living room, a toilet, and the storage room. The kitchen is fully equipped with a ceramic stove, oven, chimney, dishwasher, and fridge. There are also shelves for everyone to keep food and kitchen utensils. In the living room, there are a huge L-shaped pull-out couch and a dining table, which can be extended to accommodate 8 people. The bathroom, located upstairs, accommodates a second toilet, together with a washing machine, a bathtub, and shelves to keep your own stuff. We also have a lovely balcony upstairs! Moreover, outside the building, you will find a parking lot for your bike, if you have one.
The apartment is very well located: you can reach Heiligenstadt, Handelskai, Jägerstraße, and Dresdner straße in 10-15 minutes by foot, or less by bus. BOKU Muthgasse is also very close (5 minutes walking). Many bus stops – 5B, 11A, 5A, 37A – as well as tram stops are nearby. Night buses drop you just 2-3 minutes far from home. Billa, BIPA, Hofer, Bauhaus, are also very close. The shopping center Brigittapassage, Hanover market, and the Millenium City are within a few miles. In addition, Donaukanal, Donauinsel, and Augarten can be quickly reached by foot or by bicycle.
Living with Sloba and Valentina is far from just renting a room with anonymous people: they are like a second family! They will make you feel at home, especially when it comes to food: they are masters of Italian and Serbian food, respectively, but always open to trying something new. Apart from cooking together time to time, we like to gather in the living room to talk, play games, watch a movie (with a beamer!), or invite friends (with the necessary precautions due to the pandemic). Privacy, of course, is important as well: we respect each other needs of private space and time. The main language spoken in the house is English. Everyone in the apartment is neat and clean: besides the weekly cleaning schedule, we all try to maintain the flat on a regular basis, but no one is a cleaning maniac!
The total rent is 337€ per month including electricity, heating, water, house insurance, and internet. We bought most of the furniture in common spaces (couch, washing machine, dining table, shelves, shoe rack and many more), therefore the costs are shared among the current tenants (150€ each).
