Fully furnished paradise for international lecturers and researchers 15 minutes from Tübingen

Dettenhausen is village in the administrative district (Kreis) of Tübingen, in the Schönbuch Nature Park. It is located 10 minutes km north of Tübingen. The Schönbuchbahn railway links Dettenhausen with Böblingen, where it connects with lines S1 and S60 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. It is surrounded by the large, natural forests of the Schönbuch. This is a leisure destination for local residents, home to many species of plants and animals and an essential source of fresh air for the region. Schönbuch Nature Park is an almost completely wooded part of the Swabian terraced landscape between the Black Forest and the Swabian Jura. The giant steps of the Schönbuch are formed by alternating strata of sandstone and clay which have eroded at different speeds.

Our house in Dettenhausen is in a quiet residential area called "Sauwasen". It is a few kilometers north of Tübingen towards Stuttgart. The train-station (with services to Böblingen and onwards to Stuttgart every 30 minutes) is an 8 minute walk. The closest bus station is “Tübingerstr.”, 4 minute walk with at least 3 hourly bus services to Tübingen (15 minutes) during daytime and hourly services well past midnight as well as Stuttgart Airport (30 minutes) into the other direction. "Cyber Valley" and most of the university hospitals are 12 minutes by car and 25 minutes if you own an electric bicyle.

Shopping: a large grocery store (Edeka) is about a 5 minute walk away, several restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk, the public pool also has a restaurant and the pool is open from May until September which is less than 10 minutes.

Parking: there is ample street parking around with a one-minute walk around the house and chances are that you can usually use our guest parking (362 out of 365 day per year). We have a charger for EVs available.

It is a modern house, very energy efficient, ultra-fast internet (1 MBit). Internet (but no phone), trash etc. is included in one monthly fee. Downstairs we have a large guest room sleeping up to 3 people and if you have guests we can make arrangements for that. There is also an addiditonal bathroom with a shower outside which can be used occasionally for guests. We also have a sauna.

If you are from outside the EU. The city of Dettenhausen is neither Stuttgart nor Tübingen, thus no need to worry about "Ausländerbehörde". Our current tennants just called and got appointments the next day.

Be aware that some of the pictures are 5 years old since I respect the privacy of the current residents. The apartement is overall in a very good conditions, but the walls in the living and the bedroom wil get repainted early in November. Also, it is furnished an I am not planning to change that. Our current tennants have a few pieces of own furniture, but please don't ask me to take our furniture.

The house is built according to the highest energy standards, so operating costs are extremely low. It has a very efficient ventilation system. But: it requires "compliance" by all residents, an open window during fall/winter will not only mean lost energy, but it will also cause other parts of the house to be overheated. Thus, please do not rent the apartement if you are the kind of person who needs to sleep with an open window.

Also, the entire property including the garden is strictly non-smoking. This is the wrong place to rent even for occasional smoker.

Please be aware that I am receiving a lot of inquiries. Based on that I will schedule invitations to look at the apartement. Our current tenants are in the process of moving out. We agreed with them that we will schedule meetings after the van has picked up most of their belongings starting Friday October 20th since it is a little chaotic right now.
