My partner and I just moved into an old 3-story house with a garden in Friesdorf (next to Dottendorf) and are looking for an interested person or couple who would want to share the space with us.
About the house: the house consists of three floors: a shared kitchen/open living room with fireplace and door leading to a deck and garden, quiet and surrounded by trees, and a small washroom; a second floor (our bedroom, guest room/office and bathroom) and the third floor, which consists of a ca. 35m2 room with exposed ceiling and brick wall, four windows, and a private bathroom with shower. We just renovated the first two floors, and this space should be ready in December. If you need something immediately, you could also temporarily use the guest room.
The room is unfurnished, but we could semi-furnish it or help you get some furniture.
We are about 2 minutes away from a beautiful forest with many trails, 5 minutes from some stores (bakery, groceries, pharmacy), just a few steps from a bus stop, and 1.3 km from the next metro station (Bonn Max Loebner-Str./Friesdorf). You can bike in around 15 minutes to Bonn Central Station or the UN Campus (it’s a really nice bike ride). And we could even lend you a bike.
We are a Canadian-German couple in our 40s/50s who recently moved from Vancouver Island to Bonn with our two dogs. I am an environmental health researcher and policy analyst, my partner is a jack of all trades who used to run a tourism business on Vancouver Island and is still adapting to life in Bonn :-) We both have lived in shared places before (me for many years in Cologne) and prefer a balance of intentional communal living with a good sense of other people’s privacy. Good, transparent and respectful communication is important to us. We are happy to share a meal or play games from time to time. Our dogs are two active, playful, friendly and well-trained shepherd mixes. Your floor would be off-limits for them.
Who we are looking for: we are looking for a mature individual or couple, professionals, who decide to live with other people by choice and not economic necessity, who are tolerant and world-open, enjoy good and respectful conversations, like being around dogs, preferably mostly cook vegetarian and have a good sense of humour.
We will only rent the place out if it is the right fit; if you are only looking for a place while working in Bonn during the week, we are happy to discuss a discount on the rent. Temporary stays for a few months are fine with us, too.
Since we just moved in, we are still not too sure about the costs of utilities.
